It's always sunny where there's icecream!

Looks like he got set up outside.

Life is a Highway...

Ok, so things got pretty hectic over the past couple of weeks. The end of the school year, overtime at work, and family functions have been keeping us busy. Nevertheless, the boys trained as much as possible. Nate's double ear infection and rain also limited their time on the bike. Training consisted of smaller 10-20 mile rides.
But now all that doesn't matter because Trek Weekend is here!!!!
Nate has his journal with him so I will have to update the blog in his own words later. In the meantime, here's what's happening:
Rob, Nate, John, & Lara left Thursday afternoon. They stayed the night at a condo in Sunday River. The Trek began at 7:00 a.m. this morning...in the rain, in the POURING rain, in the it's raining cats, dogs, goats, cows, and pigs kind of rain! I finally heard from them this afternoon. They had their rain gear on the entire ride. Nate stayed dry except for his feet. Tonight they are camping at UMaine Farmington. When we spoke, the tent was set up in the Field House, but Rob said it was really stuffy in there and was planning to set up outside once/if the rain stops. Nate said he is having a blast! Whew...day one down.

Memorial Day Fundraiser

Today, with the help of his wonderful friends, Nate had a Lemonade Stand Fundraiser. We also sold hot dogs, cupcakes, cookies, peanutbutter fudge, and chocolate covered strawberries.

The grand total raised today was $90.00!!!!!! Nate is now over his $500 minimum goal with $550 raised to date.
Our friends and family never cease to amaze me with their generosity and support! We couldn't have been so successful today without the help of our Project Manager, Logan, and our Cashier, Evan. We would also like to thank Layna for the use of the hot dog steamer, cone cupcakes and fudge. Thank you to Kris for the cool gummy lobster cupcakes! And a great big shout out to all who came out to support Nate and help him achieve his goals!!!!
Next up: Training, training, and more training.

Saturday May 23: 41 Miles

We got up at 5:00 a.m. I had toaster strudel for breakfast. Lara went with us on her bike. We rode to Pine Point, Old Orchard Beach and Camp Ellis. Then we went to Hollis and headed home. We saw the ocean, baby goats, and a cool hot rod at The Station. I liked the fresh air, quiet roads, and getting gum. I also liked when we went 40 mph (Mom cringing here). I did not like the animal smells and that I forgot my gloves.

Coming up this Saturday...

We are planning on a 40 mile training ride including Old Orchard Beach!!! So far Nate has raised $430 for the American Lung Association of Maine. Thank you for your pledges!

Saturday May 16th: 35 Miles + Stowaway!

Dad and I got up at 5:30 a.m. I had a bagel with peanutbutter, honey, and cinnamon for breakfast. We found a stowaway on our bike before we left. A tree frog! We put the frog in a tree and left. We went down Heath Rd. to Simpson Rd. and came out at Salmon Falls. We went left onto Rte 202 and went to the Station Cafe again for snacks. We got on Rte 4A to 202 and went into Gorham. We saw a lot of farms. We also stopped at YourSpace sports complex and said "hi" to Mr. & Mrs. Sturtevant.
